Got questions? There are the most commonly asked ones from clients. I am always available to take any other questions you may have! You can text, message or call!

Photoshoots

How long is a standard photoshoot?

Photoshoots are typically 30 minutes to an hour, which might seem like a long time, but you will be amazed how quickly it goes. To move to different locations and pose accordingly and ensure all the shots you want are done, it can take up more time than the actual clicking of the pictures. There is also a matter of camera setting adjustments which are done in real time based on the environment.

I prefer to work quickly when children are involved to prevent them from getting frustrated as smaller kids have very short attention spans.

For large groups, 2 hours is not uncommon as there are many personalities and age groups to work with.

I am awkward at posing, can you help me?

Absolutely! I will ask if you are ok with me moving you physically into a pose, but I will also give instruction. I like to make sure the pictures don't look too staged and have a casual vibe.  If you have stubborn non-smilers I can bring a variety of tools to make people giggle. And if you are bringing pets, let me know so I can come prepared with tools to get their attention too!

How should I dress?

Speaking of pets...? YES!!

If you want to bring your pooch I absolutely encourage it! I only ask that you let me know ahead of time so I can bring things to catch their attention. Same with horses or any other animal.

A word about cats - I personally will not take photos of cats outside of their home environment. I am a cat expert and I know that they do not do well when they are removed from their territory or comfort zone. Cats are not like dogs. If you want your feline friends in the photos, I prefer to come to you to make sure they are as comfortable as possible.

All pets require time to get comfortable or get their exuberance and curiosity out of the way before we shoot photos. I make sure to take the time they need to get the photos when they are relaxed, so be prepared for a shoot to take a little longer when animals are involved.

Getting Your Photos

How long does it take to get pictures back?​​

It generally takes 2-3 weeks for me to edit your photos and have them back to you. This is becasue I work a full time job and editing takes place after work. Weddings and events can take a bit longer due to the volume of photos.

How will I get my photos?

I offer two methods, one is a unique link for you so that you can share photos online and upload them from there. If you would like them on USB I can also provide this.

How many photos do I get?

Whatever we shoot in a session that turns out is what you get. I do not make you select a certain number of photos that you pay for individually. Instead, you get it all! I will go through all the pictures and pick the best ones (in focus, eyes open, no photobombs or obstructions) and you will get them all. For events like weddings, I will even break them down into categories, so they are easier to find and sort (ie. ceremony, reception, formals, prep, etc.)

How do I download my photos without the watermark?

The link I send you has the watermark on the image previews. However, you can click the download icon to get them at full resolution without the watermark.  You can do this with individual photos, or you can click the download icon on the main gallery page and it will save all the pictures on a zip file in your downloads (this is easier to do on a computer). From there, extract the files and you will have everything in one spot, full resolution, no watermark!

How long will my picture link last?

The link will be live for one year. After that, it may become deactivated to free up space for new albums. I suggest saving your pictures as soon as you get them. That being said, I keep backups of all my client photos for 5 years before they are permanently deleted.

Will I receive the RAW files?

No. RAW files are not only incredibly large, but they are also a special format that your computer and phone likely won't recognize. They are essentially data files, not images.

Do you bring a second shooter/photographer?

Generally not. It can be very cluttered the more people involved. I have been able to shoot all events I've done on my own. If you have several things going on at once in your itinerary that you want coverage of, a second shooter can be arranged for an additional fee.

Can we give you a list of photos to take?

Absolutely! I encourage this and we will discuss it prior to the event to ensure the most important moments are captured. This is part of the preliminary discussions so that I know if there are special requests like "first look" photos and can plan accordingly.

Any requests you have I will do my best to accommodate!

Can you photoshop things?

I will edit all photos to make people look their best, but there are some limits. I cannot just photoshop someone into a picture that isn't there, and while I can change backgrounds, I am limited on that. It can be VERY time consuming to photoshop things and no matter how much I try it doesn't always look natural. It's best to be prepared for what you want in the moment.

What Else...?

Can I get prints made by you?

I do not provide printing services, but you are more than welcome to take the images I provide to any printing service of your choice.

Can I post the photos on social media?

Of course! Please do! I love when clients share the images! However, if you do share them, make sure to give me photo credit and include a link back to my photography page.

Can I edit the pictures or apply filters?

I would ask that you please do not edit them or apply filters as your edits do not properly reflect my style and that is what clients book me for.

Instead, if you would like me to edit them a specific way, let me know and I will see what I can do for you!

Do you travel?

I certainly do! Depending on the date and availability, I am willing to travel to take photos for any occassion. Send me a message and we can discuss the logistics. For general photoshoots I charge 0.50/km.

Did you say "referral"?

Yes I do referrals discounts! For every new client I recieve that indicates they were referred by someone, that referred person will get a 25% discount on their next photoshoot as a thank you!
